Everything runs in your browser: your ride file is read on your own device and is never uploaded.

How to use Ride Autopsy

  1. Enter your FTP. Everything in the breakdown scales off it.
  2. Drop in your .fit file (or click to browse). It’s read on your device — nothing is uploaded.
  3. Read the breakdown. Your pacing sliced by time, distance, quarter, terrain, and climb by climb.
  4. Check the flags — a hot opening, a fade, matches spent early, climbing power dropping. No file handy? Load the example ride.

Frequently asked questions

What file do I need?

A .fit file from a ride recorded with a power meter — export the original from Garmin Connect, Wahoo, Hammerhead, Strava (“Export Original”) or TrainingPeaks. Heart-rate-only files can’t be analyzed.

Is my ride data uploaded anywhere?

No. There is no server. Your file is read on your own device through your browser and never leaves it.

What does it show me?

It breaks your ride down by time (at several resolutions), by distance, by quarter, by terrain — climbing, flat and descending — and climb by climb, then raises flags for patterns like a hot opening, a late fade, or matches spent early.

Why does it ask for my FTP?

Every percentage in the analysis scales off the FTP you enter. If it’s wrong, the numbers are off — so put in the number you actually train and race with.

Does it work without a power meter?

No — it needs power data, so heart-rate-only files are turned away with a message. Heart rate, when present, adds one more measure.

Any rides it can’t analyze?

Rides under 15 minutes are too short to say anything useful and are rejected, and climb detection needs elevation data — so indoor rides show no climbs and say so.
