Ride Notes From Honeybee Canyon & Ridgeline Loop

We started out the ride with all 4 of us, but then Lynn and Reid cut back early and just did Honeybee as Reid’s skin was flaring up badly in the sun while Kyle and I went on to do the Ridgeline Loop. Note: Reid had been dealing with a bad skin issue for over a year. The best part of the ride is the Ridgeline Loop. You have to work for it, but it’s well worth the ride back to the connector and then up and over the jeep trail to get to Ridgeline Trail. The views are spectacular and the ride is outstanding. It’s a nice backcountry feeling ride and I guess by definition, it would be backcountry riding.

Honeybee is fun as well, while being a very tame ride. It’s false flat up in one direction and false flat down in the other. You have to watch out for the cactus as the trail is threading the needle thru the cactus most of the way. You can get carried away with speed when you are riding from the connector trail back east toward the Honeybee trailhead as you are going downhill most of the time. We were running out of daylight on the way back, so Kyle and I were flying thru it. It was a rush! We did get held up at some point by cattle in the trail and it took a few minutes for them to let us through.
