The Whitetail Ridge Mountain Bike Race is part of the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series and is held at Whitetail Ridge in River Falls, Wisconsin. We really like this one — it has a nice well-rounded course with entertaining singletrack, some challenging climbs, and a little bit of tech. The venue is also fantastic for a mountain bike race with a great infield area and plenty of parking. mnmtb.org

Whitetail Ridge was a muddy course from all the rain. Race day was nice, although it got hot and muggy. The course was shortened to take out some sections, but one section of trail was a total mudfest. Sounds like that section was planned for rework after the race anyway. Most of the trail was in good shape though, outside of the bridges section. River Falls race is always good. The venue is great with the field section that the start/finish comes through.

Another fun weekend of racing the MN MTB Series. This was race #3 with 7 more races to go in the series this year.
Boys both had good, clean races. Lynn hit a tree… I couldn’t climb today and was near the back by the top of the opening climb, but worked my way back up some places in the 3rd and 4th laps. Whitetail is a fun trail with a little bit of everything.

I’m gonna have to start running during the week, to train for these Sundays of running back and forth on the race course… I got some good trail miles in today with some elevation change. Lynn didn’t have anybody else in her age group for women’s sport this week and brought home some more hardware. She took a huge over the bars digger on the last berm before the finish. I was off in another part of the course, but I guess she was down for a minute or 2 and then realized she was almost at the finish and got up and pedaled it out. Reid and Kyle both looking strong. Kyle was sitting in 4th place out of 9 for 19 and under comp age group and mid pack for overall comp, then punctured on last lap. It wouldn’t seal up and ended up pulling out. Good racing again today!
